Most IT firms in Montréal do not post their prices. In their articles, they estimate that full managed IT services cost $75 to $175 per user per month in 2026, sometimes up to $250. Basic help desk support costs less; full management with advanced cybersecurity costs more. But the price alone does not tell the whole story: what is included, or not, often doubles the real bill.

None of these firms posts its own prices. These figures are the estimates they publish in their articles, not their rates. Use them as an order of magnitude. UpSystems’ prices, on the other hand, are posted below.

What drives the price

  • Unlimited or hourly support. This is the biggest difference. A low plan where every call is billed by the hour can cost more than an unlimited plan.
  • Cybersecurity. Advanced endpoint protection, 24/7 monitoring, anti-phishing training: included or optional?
  • Servers, firewalls and equipment. Often billed on top of the per-user price.
  • Hours covered. Business hours only, or evenings and weekends?
  • Onboarding fees. Some providers charge to onboard your environment before the first month.

The “cheap plan” trap

It is a common scenario: a low plan, then every call billed by the hour. Overages pile up for years without anyone noticing. The day the company starts looking elsewhere, its provider suddenly offers a discounted unlimited plan. The client then realizes that plan existed all along, and that years of overages will never be refunded.

How to compare two quotes

  1. Ask for the total monthly cost for your number of users, servers included.
  2. Ask whether support is unlimited, and if not, the hourly rate.
  3. Check what security is included, and what is optional.
  4. Ask for hours covered and response times in writing.
  5. Ask about onboarding fees and contract length.
