TRUSTED BY OUR CLIENTS

Four migrations we carry out for SMBs
Every migration follows the same five-step process. What changes is what we move and how long it takes.
Migration | When it comes up | What we migrate | Typical duration |
Email to Microsoft 365 | On-premises Exchange at end of life, Google Workspace, GoDaddy, IMAP hosting | Mailboxes, calendars, contacts, archives, domains, rules and signatures | 1 to 2 weeks for 20 to 50 users |
File servers to SharePoint and OneDrive | Network shares, NAS or Windows Server to retire; remote teams | Files, folder structure, permissions, Teams sites | Depends on data volume |
Tenant-to-tenant Microsoft 365 | Merger, acquisition, company split, rebranding | Mailboxes, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, domains, licences | Depends on the number of users |
Physical server to hosted server | Hardware at end of life, server room to close, line-of-business applications to keep | Virtual machines, applications, databases, full configuration: network, access, backups | On quote |
Not sure which one applies? A 30-minute call is enough to tell.
How does a migration work?
Every project follows the same process, from the first inventory to final validation, with a rollback plan written before each cutover.
Assessment
Full inventory of your current environment: mailboxes, servers, applications, dependencies, volumes. We identify what blocks and what can break.
Migration plan
Schedule, cutover windows (evening or weekend), batch order, written rollback plan and a message to your users. You approve it before we touch anything.
Preparation
Accounts, licences, domains and pre-synchronization of the data. A pilot batch validates the method before the rest of the team.
Supervised cutover
Our technicians run the cutover in the agreed window and stay online. If something blocks, the rollback plan applies instead of improvising.
Validation and support
We check data, access and performance with you, then support your users after the cutover. The old system is shut down only with your approval.
Why trust UpSystems with your migration?
We live in Microsoft 365 every day
As a managed services provider in the Montréal area, the environments we migrate are the ones we then administer. We know what breaks after a migration, not only during it.
A rollback plan at every step
Nothing is deleted before validation. If a batch cutover goes wrong, we roll back and resume, without your users having to wait.
Your users are informed and supported
A message before the cutover, a getting-started guide and support afterwards. A migration that works technically but is endured by the team is still a failure.
One contact, before, during and after
The same team does the inventory, the cutover and the support. No subcontractor, no ticket changing hands.

How much does a migration cost?
On quote, after a 30-minute call. The price depends on the number of mailboxes or users, the data volume, the number of servers and applications, and the cutover window (evening or weekend).

“UpSystems helped us migrate our servers to the cloud. We had first approached another firm we had worked with for more than 10 years for on-site server maintenance; UpSystems understood our needs and the migration was completed quickly and successfully.”

“Even without much IT experience, they take the time to explain clearly so I understand what I am buying. The server change was done impeccably, on both the software and hardware side.”

Is your server reaching end of life, or is your email still on an on-premises Exchange?
Let’s talk before it becomes urgent. A 30-minute call is enough to know which migration applies, how long it takes and what it costs.
Frequently asked questions about migration
The questions our clients ask most often before a migration.
For an SMB of 20 to 50 users, count 1 to 2 weeks, preparation included. The cutover itself happens on an evening or a weekend. File server and hosted server migrations depend on data volume and applications; we give the duration in the quote.
The data is pre-synchronized before the cutover and checked with you afterwards. The old system stays in place until you have confirmed that everything is there. Nothing is deleted without your approval.
The cutover is scheduled outside your business hours, in a window announced to your users. Each batch has a rollback plan: if something blocks, we go back to the old system and resume later rather than leave the team without email.
Yes. Emails, calendars, contacts and Google Drive files are migrated to Microsoft 365, OneDrive and SharePoint. Microsoft 365 accounts bought through GoDaddy are defederated and moved to a tenant you control.
No. We determine the licences needed during the assessment. You can buy them yourself, but most of our clients prefer that we supply and manage them: one contact for licences, support and billing.
It is kept powered off or read-only during the validation period, then decommissioned the way you decide: reuse, secure disk wipe or recycling. We document the shutdown.
Yes, as part of a physical server to hosted server migration. We first confirm with the vendor that the application is supported in the target environment, then test it on the pilot batch before the cutover.
Yes. All our migrations are delivered remotely from Montréal, for clients in Ontario, Québec and across Canada. An on-site visit remains possible for a large project that calls for it.
